Handle wood type

Included is one of our 6 prong family pleaser hot dog roasting fork. We offer a long one at 46" and an extra long one at 56". There is a picture in the gallery displaying the size difference. Feed the entire family with one stick! These are handmade in Central IL USA. We have 3 handle variations to choose from:

Black Walnut
Red Cedar
Random- Mulberry, Oak, Cherry, Hickory

There are labeled pictures in the gallery of the Walnut and Cedar. You can choose your wood handle when checking out. If you choose the random variety, you will receive a type of wood handle that is not pictured. It might be Cherry, Mulberry, Oak, Elm, etc. They will always be a hard wood species. Sometimes there can be variations in grain, pattern, shade and smoothness within the same species. These are sturdy and reusable. Made from steel and wood. Best sticks you will ever own!

This is a doubled handled "safety" stick. The second handle slides up and down the shaft of the stick. It's there to hold onto while cooking to assist with rotation and prevent burning your hand. This style has a stopper to keep the handle away from the hot forks. To get your food off simply place the butt end of the stick on the ground, grasp the second handle and slide it all the way up to the washer then take your food off without roasting your hand! We have many types and sizes of hot dog sticks to choose from so be sure to check them out in our shop.

  • Before first use be sure to burn the tips off as they are clear coated for storage purposes. Oiling the tips after each use, or for long-term storage, is recommended. Any food grade oil is fine. They are made from solid steel and can be shined back up with a fine grit sandpaper. Avoid leaving these in direct fire for a long time and do not use as log turners. It will cause them to deform and bend. The handles can be lightly sanded and any type of polyurethane re-applied as needed.

Think of these like the cast iron skillet of the hot dog stick world; they get better with more use. Take care of them and they are sure to last a lifetime.
